スコットランド(Scotland)
澤木の最初の調査地はウィスキーで有名なIslay島(Bowmoreに宿泊)と無人島のGarbh Eileach島でした。どちらも後期原生代の堆積岩が露出しています。また、Ballantraeという地域にオルドビス紀の付加体を記載しに何度も行きました(Sawaki et al., 2010やFujisaki et al., 2015として発表)。古い城や沈没船などもありました。とにかく天気が悪い印象です。
ウェールズ(Wales)
地質に関して100年以上の歴史があるAnglesey島を主な対象として何度も地質調査に行きました。海洋の沈み込みに伴う地質体を記載し、６億年前の造山運動を復元する事を主な研究目的としています。2012年には現地の地質博物館の落成式に合わせて研究発表も行ってきました(１枚目の写真)。
アイルランド(Ireland)
カンブリア紀～オルドビス紀の遠洋深海堆積岩を探しに2013年に行きました。１枚目の写真は借りていた家の写真です。Clair島という場所に行くときには３枚目の写真にある船に乗って行きました。車が速く走ってる印象です。
